– What is Chirimen? –

Chirimen is a traditional Japanese fabric (often silk but also synthetic fabrics) which also called as Japanese crape fabric.
This unique Chirimen weaving technique has been developed in the late 16th century. The weaver keeps the weft thread tighter than the warp thread during weaving process and it creates the unique fine wrinkles on the surface and therewith a smooth and pleasant texture.
